Among West Michigan’s
101 Best Companies to Work For

With such benefits as a salary bonus program, sales incentive awards, work-life balance initiatives and extensive community involvement, it's no wonder the Kalamazoo office of Yeo & Yeo has been named one of West Michigan’s 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For by the Michigan Business and Professional Association for four consecutive years.

"This exciting accomplishment confirms the culture Yeo & Yeo has created to support the demands of its employees’ work and personal lives," said James D. Reinhart, Managing Principal of the Kalamazoo office.

Recognized for Outstanding Employee Education and Development Programs

In the service industry our service is only as strong as our employees and the knowledge and skill they bring to clients. That’s why the firm employs two fill-time trainers. Wendy Thompson is a CPA by trade and hosts firm-wide and on-site skill training sessions throughout the year. Dan Schluckbier is a certified trainer for many software programs and trains employees and clients on the basics and advanced secrets of such programs as Microsoft Word and QuickBooks. These and other factors earned Yeo & Yeo the Elite award for Employee Education and Development from the 101 Best and Brightest Companies to Work For in 2007.

Yeo & Yeo Honored for Human Resources Innovation

In addition to excellence in employee training, the work environment at Yeo & Yeo reflects innovation in human resources development. In 2006 the firm was honored with an award from the Leading Edge Alliance, an international alliance of accounting firms, for building a strengths-based organization.

Each employee completes the Strengths Finder profile, a 180-question web-based assessment based on the book, Now, Discover Your Strengths. The assessment identifies each employee’s top five strengths. The strengths are discussed with the employee’s entire team and, due to the awareness of these strengths, he or she takes on expanded roles within the office and the firm such as training, sales or strategic planning. The process develops a strong team culture and builds upon the strengths of the individuals instead of their weaknesses.

"I enjoy the diverse work experiences that are not often available with a larger firm. Within a short amount of time, I was interacting directly with clients and building a diverse portfolio of clients in many industries with vastly different needs."
